Artemis Fowl

ARTEMIS FOWL: Eoin Colfer: Hyperion: Fantasy: 277pgs.

Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is the most ingenious criminal mastermind in history. With two trusty sidekicks in tow, he hatches a cunning plot to divest the fairies of their pot of gold.

Artemis Fowl is an immensely popular series here at the Provo Library, and I’ve been meaning to read at least one from the series for a long time. I finally ended up listening to the first book in the series. I liked the reader, Nathaniel Parker, quite a lot. He did the different voices and accents well without being annoying.

For those who like a fast-paced story, the action moves along at a fast clip. Because of its fast pace and non-stop action, I would recommend this series to fans of the Stormbreaker series by Anthony Horowitz.

VERY ENTERTAINING! The unique imagination of the author gives so much detail of "imaginary" worlds and creatures that the reader believes they do exist and can interact with our world. Definitely something that boys about 9-14 would love! Great adventures and a main character that can be related to. I thought it was great! Don't forget the other 4 books in the series!!

I recently went on a road trip with my family and we decided to listen to Artemis Fowl because I knew it was a popular series here at the Provo Library. The story was very fast-paced with a lot of humor throughout. Some of my kids' favorite parts involved potty humor, but it wasn't bad. This audio book kept everyone entertained and they actually wanted to stay in the car longer each time we stopped so that they could find out what was happening in the story. This series would be great for fans of the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull or the Alcatraz Smedry series by Brandon Sanderson.
